When choosing outfits, go for a more timeless look so that you can enjoy your portraits through any generation. Consider your home's decor and the room you'd like your portraits displayed. Neutral and earthy tones usually  coordinate with just about any decor.

Coordinating: I recommend coordinating, but not matching. Solid colors often look the best. For example, one of you can wear a cream button down, while the other can wear a navy blue dress with a cream scarf to pull the outfits together. 

Coordinating around her: Whether you're here for your engagement session or family portraits, I highly recommend picking out her outfit first and then coordinating other family members around her outfit. 

Hands: It's all in the details, especially when photographing engagement sessions. We want to see that gorgeous ring! Make sure to moisturize your hands with hydrating hand cream. I also encourage tidying up your nails for both him and her.

Try to avoid prints, stripes, graphics, and logos on clothing, so as not to distract from YOU! 

Also try to avoid bright tones such as pinks, oranges, reds, and greens. These colors cause color casts on the skin, which most don't want in their photos. Softer, pastel colors usually photograph better in any light.

Shoes and accessories help pull the outfit together. Avoid sneakers/running shoes. Choose shoes that are comfortable and clean.

Ladies, remember to remove hair ties and rubber bands from your wrists!

Gentlemen, remember to have your pockets empty from wallets, cellphones, etc!

Clean pressed shirts, pants, and dresses also help to present your best you! Aim to iron and hang your outfits the day before.

But most of all, HAVE FUN! We'll laugh and tell stories throughout our session. I can't wait to capture these precious moments of your love story.
